John Graves Morris, of Lawton, Oklahoma, is Professor of English at Cameron University. Having settled in Lawton after a lifetime of living in various places, mostly in New Mexico and Wisconsin, because of his father’s military service and then his mother’s schooling and employment, his poetry has as one of its chief themes his adaptation to such a life and to his adopted home. Others are the human situation in a mutable world, both serious and humorous, the beauty of the natural world, the music and magic of language, and the stories that and characters who encompass all of these. The author of a limited edition chapbook, Learning to Love the Music (Rose Rock Press, 1999) and a full-length collection Noise and Stories (Plain View Press, 2008), he is a dynamic and popular reader of his work.
